‘Subtitles Club’ – Learn a language from your movie theatre seat

Watching movies is a fun, effective way to brush up on your foreign language. That’s why ElaN Learning and The Roxy Theatre are launching the ‘Subtitles Club’! Starting on 6 October, we’ll be rotating screenings of foreign language films, in English, French, or German, at The Roxy Theatre, Pieter Vanhoudtstraat 39, Koersel-Beringen. All films will be spoken and subtitled in the relevant language. You’ll also get an exciting introduction to the film.

Everyone welcome

The ‘Subtitles Club’ is initially intended for our language trainees. But everyone is welcome, from teachers to language lovers to film fans. Comedies, dramas, biopics, you name it; every genre will be shown!

Watch, enjoy… and learn

We’ll be kicking off the event on Friday, 6 October at 7 p.m., with triple Oscar-winner Whiplash by Damien Chazelle (La La Land), in English. Tickets are €6.

Also on the bill this year are:

Friday, 10 Nov. at 7 p.m.: Tschick, a German coming-of-age drama by Fatih Akin.
Friday, 1 Dec. at 7 p.m.: Réparer Les Vivants, a poignant French drama by Katell Quillévéré.

So head on down to The Roxy Theatre, settle down into a cosy movie theatre seat, and enjoy the show. When you leave the theatre, you’ll have had a great movie experience along with a good dose of additional language practice. Who ever said learning was boring?
